about HEM design

My memories of home are of a place that was warm and comfortable, yet ever evolving. Perhaps it was the ever increasing size of our family, or my mom’s ease with a paint brush and a sewing machine, but it always seemed one part of the house was going through some kind of transformation.

I have lived in many places since officially moving away from home. From the typical gamut of one-year-leases through University to a tiny little apartment in Japan. I have even slept on a raft floating on the River Kwai and in a cave in the heart of Turkey. These places were fascinating, but not home.

I now find myself with a little family of my own, and a house in a constant state of transformation. We seek to not only create a place that is attractive and stylish, but warm and comfortable. With my design education, my experience as an art teacher, and a few tricks I learned from my mom in hand; I hope my children also have nothing but fond memories of the place they knew as home. 

HEM design is a small home-based design business which offers colour consultations, design consultations, and custom art & accessories. We specialize in nurseries and children's spaces, but welcome customers of any age!
